 The end of an era

The long running Rock and Blues Jam  held every Monday night at the Globe in Morning Lane got a recent mention on Radio 4.

However, I am sad to report that for the foreseeable future this has been cancelled.

Recently it has been getting quieter and quieter to the point where the house band were virtually playing to themselves some evenings.
I would love to think that this was due to the fact that the many excellent musicians who have been coming along to these sessions are now successful and busy recording stars in their own right, but I think it is more likely down to the economic situation and the fact that every one is skint.

The Rock and Blues Jam was going for around 15 years and we have enjoyed listening to and wish to thank everyone who has attended these sessions over the years.

Hopefully we will be able to resurrect this in the not to distant future so keep watching here for any updates.

Thanks

What with Facebook, Youtube a website and a photogallery we really being dragged into the 21st century.

Who knows, we may even get a twitter feed (if anyone can figure out what we can say in 140 characters!!)

Please note

The Monday Club on 22nd April has been moved to Tuesday 23rd April. (St Georges Day)

23rd April is St. Georges Day and as the Globe in Morning is proud to be English we celebrate St. Georges Day in the good old fashioned way, by waving flags, singing traditional English songs, dressing up (if you want to) and generally having a good time.

So come along on Tuesday 23rd April and celebrate St. Georges day at The Globe in Morning Lane, Hackney.

From 4pm - get there early and grab your seat.

Friday, 8 February 2013

Thursday nights never cease to amaze.

From the dulcet tones of Terry Naylor through to the more upbeat sounds of "twisting" Dave all accompanied by the "comedic" hosting of Dean Ferris.
Everyone had a great time and went away with a smile on their faces.

For those who have not visited the Globe on a Thursday evening then get a taster by going to our YouTube channel and having a look at the brief montage.
Extended versions of the individual "artistes" will be loaded up in the near future.

thanks

A great Rock and Blues Jam session on Monday.

A lot of "old" faces that we had not seen for a while plus quite a few new ones.

Everything from Clapton to the Stones was played and sung (with varying degrees of success!!).
We even had our own Michael Jackson dancer to provide the floor entertainment.

Uploading a video to YouTube as I type this so check out the Globepube9 channel shortly for a quick 10 minute montage.

Still to come this week.

Thursday night - the inimitable stylings of Dean Ferris from 9pm
Friday night - Midnight Karaoke (exactly what it says it is)
Saturday night - John Dillon and Graham West with compere
Sunday Lunchtime Jazz with The Phoenix Dixiland Jazzband.

See you all at The Globe.

Tuesday, 22 January 2013

A good weekend at the Globe.
Despite the weather the Sunday lunchtime jazz was a full house and the New Stompers went down a storm.
The snowball fight outside afterwards was an added bonus !!

Monday Club was a little quieter than usual but Dean was on his usual fine form and Kim and others entertained with their "unique" renditions of popular songs.
Kim also decided to give an impromtu ballet recital and a very "interesting" Elvis impression.
Videos being uploaded to Youtube as you read this!

Coming this week.
Thursday night - Dean Ferris
Friday - midnight Karaoke
Saturday - Terry Naylor compering with John Dillon on drums and Graham West on keyboards
Sunday - Lunchtime Jazz with Dave Ware's Dixie Hotshots.
