Charity Night

Thursday 17th April 2014.

 
Special Charity Night in aid of the Freddie Mills' Club for young people with special needs, a very worthy cause indeed.
Dean Ferris will provide the live music along with some of the Globe's regular singers. Guest singers are welcome as usual.
The grand raffle with some great prizes will help to swell the funds for the Club. Boxing celebrities will attend if circumstances permit.

Here is a night not to be missed so please try to come along and have a good time while helping others.

 The end of an era

The long running Rock and Blues Jam  held every Monday night at the Globe in Morning Lane got a recent mention on Radio 4.

However, I am sad to report that for the foreseeable future this has been cancelled.

Recently it has been getting quieter and quieter to the point where the house band were virtually playing to themselves some evenings.
I would love to think that this was due to the fact that the many excellent musicians who have been coming along to these sessions are now successful and busy recording stars in their own right, but I think it is more likely down to the economic situation and the fact that every one is skint.

The Rock and Blues Jam was going for around 15 years and we have enjoyed listening to and wish to thank everyone who has attended these sessions over the years.

Hopefully we will be able to resurrect this in the not to distant future so keep watching here for any updates.

What with Facebook, Youtube a website and a photogallery we really being dragged into the 21st century.

Who knows, we may even get a twitter feed (if anyone can figure out what we can say in 140 characters!!)
